Documentation · Chapter 17

Audit technical signals and measure outcomes.

seo:audit checks technical evidence. Analytics and Search Console reveal different outcomes: visits, queries, coverage, and indexing decisions.

Every lesson starts from the problem, explains the mechanism, then gives a concrete verification.

LESSON OBJECTIVE

What you will be able to do

Combine technical audits, analytics, and Search Console while respecting what each source can prove.

Audit locally and remotely

A local file audit finds missing tags; a remote audit also sees HTTPS and deployed headers. Neither guarantees Google will index the page.

Separate analytics from search data

Analytics measures visits and behavior after a page is loaded. Search Console measures impressions, clicks, queries, sitemap, and indexing.

Diagnose excluded pages

For a non-indexed page, inspect status, canonical, robots, noindex, duplication, internal links, content value, and last crawl before requesting reindexing.

CHECKPOINT

Before you continue

Are you using analytics to claim indexing, or Search Console to claim behavior after page load? Neither inference is valid.
